South Shore Art Center’s Blue Ribbon Members’ Show is particularly important to us because it represents everything we stand for: a community united in creativity. Blue Ribbon is one of two shows annually at which our members are guaranteed an opportunity to showcase their work. Having the word “member” in the exhibition’s title is intentional; this is a member benefit – with participation limited to Art Center members in good standing.

South Shore Art Center will be processing initial art intake online via Smarter Entry. This will allow for automated exhibition paperwork and fees, and will minimize contact when dropping off the physical works of art. The Smarter Entry system does not have the capacity to determine whether memberships are current. Art Center staff will review each entry and will contact anyone with lapsed memberships. If your membership has lapsed, we will ask that you renew prior to the exhibition installation or when dropping off your work.

Blue Ribbon Members’ Show dates: July 27 to August 22. Opening Reception: July 30, 6:00 pm on Facebook Live

ENTRY DEADLINE: Sunday, July 19. All work must be original, have been completed within the last three years, and have not been previously exhibited at South Shore Art Center (SSAC) or at the Arts Festival. (Only one entry per person.) Membership must be current through July 2020.

SPECIAL NOTE RE: NFS OPTION: Members may choose to list work as NFS, but the Smarter Entry system requires an art value as part of the process. To indicate a “NFS” listing, list the work as $0 value in Smarter Entry. However, you must email with a value for insurance purposes.

DROP OFF of actual works will take place at SSAC outside the building under a tent, July 20 and July 21 from 10am to 4pm. Masks must be worn. Please label the back of your work with your name and title of the work so we can match it up with your Smarter Entry info.

Media categories are oil and acrylic, encaustic and cold wax, drawing and pastel, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media/3D, photography and digital media.

There is nonrefundable $15 fee per entry (one submission per member).

JPEG SIZING: Image size for entry on Smarter Entry: Images should be at least 1280 pixels in the longest dimension at 72 ppi, file size not to exceed 2 MB.

South Shore Art Center receives 40% of the purchase price. Work must have been created within the past three years. No entry may be withdrawn prior to the close of the exhibition. No pricing changes will be allowed after acceptance. Living artists only. Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. Entries must not have been previously exhibited at SSAC or the SSAC Arts Festival.

It is in your best interest to submit high quality images.

Entries will be posted on our website by July 27.

I understand that South Shore Art Center will insure work accepted to the extent of 60% of the artist’s stated value while the work is in the Art Center’s custody and control.

Submission to Blue Ribbon Members’ Show constitutes an agreement with all conditions of this show. South Shore Art Center reserves the right to photograph or use a submitted image for publicity purposes.

PRIZES (Due to Covid-19, there will be no cash prizes)
